As SENCO, you will lead and coordinate the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the secondary school. You will work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, parents/carers, external agencies, and the local authority to provide high quality support that enables students to achieve their full potential. Your responsibilities include overseeing EHCP processes, monitoring student progress, providing staff training, and promoting an inclusive learning environment that meets statutory requirements.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or currently working towards the qualification.
- Proven experience as a SENCO or in a SEN leadership role within a secondary school.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, annual reviews, and statutory requirements.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
- Ability to work independently and manage SEN provision on a contract basis.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with parents/carers, external professionals, and local authorities.
- Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
- Commitment to promoting inclusion, improving outcomes for students with SEND, and supporting staff through guidance and training.
