Elementa is working with a special school providing specialist education for learners with an EHCP relating to SEMH, Trauma, ADHD, ASC and often other additional needs. Unsurprisingly, students often display challenging behaviour. The organisation focuses on a holistic and creative education approach either to reintegrate the students into mainstream schooling or achieve their full potential whilst out of education.
The school has been highly successful at student reintegration into mainstream schooling and they have achieved this by using a range of education approaches which include outdoor learning, Forest School, classroom-based learning, excursions and practical learning sessions. In the last few years, the school improved from 'Requires Improvement' to 'Good' in their Ofsted inspections and continue to work at this level.
The role of the SEND Learning Support Assistant in this setting is both academic and appropriate car insurance required. A clear DBS (civil offences may be permissible) is also necessary.
