Elementa is recruiting for a Programme Lead of Computer Science for this popular Secondary School in Weston-super-Mare. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for an experienced and motivated Computing professional ready to lead and develop a high-performing department. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the leadership and strategic development of the Computer Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching, curriculum innovation, and strong student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Computer Science department, setting high standards for teaching and learning.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Computer Science and Computing lessons across Key Stages.
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve student progress through effective assessment and intervention.
- Lead curriculum development and assessment planning within the department.
- Mentor, support, and develop colleagues to promote professional growth and best practice.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders and departmental staff to drive continuous improvement.
- Keep up to date with developments in the Computer Science and Computing curriculum and implement innovative teaching approaches.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
- Proven experience teaching Computer Science/Computing at secondary level.
- Demonstrable experience in a leadership or management role, or readiness to step into one.
- Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science, including programming and digital literacy.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to raising standards and inspiring students.
