About the Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons through the medium of Welsh
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable where applicable)
  • Develop students’ practical cookery skills alongside knowledge of nutrition, food provenance, and healthy living
  • Encourage creativity, problem‑solving, and independent thinking through practical and theory‑based learning
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well‑managed classroom environment
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress effectively
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour at all times
  • Contribute to departmental planning and the wider school community

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration
  • Fluent Welsh language skills
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply (Elementa can assist)
  • Experience teaching Design Technology / Food Technology at secondary level (including placements)
  • Strong subject knowledge and confident classroom management skills

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching KS5 Food Technology or Hospitality & Catering
  • A reflective and adaptable teaching approach
  • A passion for practical, skills‑based learning
  • The ability to create engaging and inspiring Welsh‑language learning experiences
