Elementa Support Services is working in partnership with a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Powys to recruit a knowledgeable and committed Teacher of Welsh. This is an exciting opportunity to engage students through creative and inspiring lessons in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
About the Role
- Plan and deliver engaging Welsh lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Teach across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable where applicable)
- Develop students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in Welsh
- Promote Welsh culture, heritage, and language development across the school community
- Create engaging and differentiated lessons that support learners of varying abilities
- Foster confidence, communication skills, and a positive attitude towards language learning
- Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress effectively
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour at all times
- Contribute to departmental planning and the wider school community
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply (Elementa can assist)
- Experience teaching Welsh at secondary level (including placements)
- Strong subject knowledge and confident classroom management skills
- Fluency in spoken and written Welsh
Desirable:
- Experience teaching KS5 Welsh or Welsh Second Language
- A reflective and adaptable teaching approach
- A passion for promoting bilingualism and Welsh culture
This Role Is Not Suitable For Applicants:
- Without fluency in spoken and written Welsh
- Not currently based within the UK
- Requiring employer sponsorship for UK right to work
- Without UK secondary school teaching experience
