Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality Functional Skills English and/or Maths lessons to learners within an Alternative Provision setting.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the individual learning needs, abilities, and aspirations of students.
- Assess learners' starting points and create individualised learning plans with clear targets and progression routes.
- Monitor, record, and report on learner attendance, engagement, progress, and achievement.
- Prepare learners for Functional Skills examinations and support them in achieving accredited qualifications.
- Differentiating teaching strategies to support learners with SEND, SEMH needs, EHCPs, and those who may have experienced barriers to education.
- Build positive and professional relationships with learners to promote confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral staff, teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies to support learner outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records, assessment data, and tracking information in line with organisational and awarding body requirements.
- Provide regular feedback to learners on their progress and next steps for development.
- Contribute to reviews, meetings, and reporting processes relating to learner progress and attainment.
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and all organisational policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Support the development of Functional Skills provision within the Alternative Provision and contribute ideas to improve learner engagement and outcomes.
- Participate in staff training, quality assurance activities, and continuous professional development opportunities.
