Dates: ASAP - 23/10/2026

Location: Devon (Exeter & Plymouth)

Salary: £140 - £179.49 per day (up to £35k perm salary equivalent)

Hours: 9:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

Type: Temp-to-perm contract

This role is suitable for experienced applicants only who have previously worked in a SEND‑specific Designated Safeguarding Lead role. Applicants should have previous experience in the same/similar role relating to child safeguarding and be able to integrate quickly with the current team.

It would be advantageous if you have experience/training in:

  • CPOMS
  • Arbor
  • Advanced Child Protection
  • Previous work experience in a SEND‑specific education setting (Alternative Provision / Special School)

Key competencies sought are:

  • Confident speaking with parents
  • Experienced at working with external clients, agents, LA and service providers
  • Skilled at supporting children and recognising early signs for concern
  • Good at presenting information
  • Accurate with data
  • Good empathy & interpersonal skills when working together with families

Preferred experience and qualifications:

  • Education‑relevant qualifications in supporting teaching & learning
  • Good experience supporting young people in an education setting
  • Understanding and expertise in supporting learners with SEND
  • Skills & strategies in supporting emotional wellbeing
  • Tenacity & resilience to manage, influence & effect positive behaviours & decisions in learners
  • The ability to present a strong role model for young people, including having fun!
  • Collaborative and pro‑active working practices
  • A strong sense of responsibility & work ethic

NB you will need your own transport and business insurance cover to be considered for this role. Travel expenses for business purposes will be reimbursed twice a month. This role will be run on a temp‑to‑perm contract requiring a 60‑paid day trial before transferring to permanent contract pending successful appointment after trial. Elementa is the recruiting partner; the successful candidate will be required to complete the registration process for Elementa, including full vetting & background checks, satisfactory referencing and application for a DBS Enhanced Disclosure (which may be chargeable at £64.20) unless you have a current DBS on the updated service.
