A Welsh-medium secondary school in Cardiff is seeking a friendly, organised and professional School Receptionist to join their busy front-office team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work confidently in a school environment.
About the Role
This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible, with the potential to become permanent.
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break)
- Pay: Competitive, based on experience
As the first point of contact for students, families, staff and visitors, you will help ensure the smooth running of the school office. Full fluency in Welsh and English is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming and assisting students, parents, staff and visitors
- Managing incoming calls, emails and front-desk enquiries in Welsh and English
- Providing general administrative support to the office and wider school team
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting routine data entry
- Coordinating visitor sign-in procedures in line with safeguarding requirements
- Supporting communication between the school and families
- Upholding confidentiality and following all policies and procedures
Key Requirements
- Fluent Welsh and English – spoken and written
- DBS registration (Enhanced Child Workforce)
- Confident and professional communication skills
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a busy environment and manage competing priorities
- Friendly, approachable and able to build positive relationships
- Reliable, punctual and committed to high standards of professionalism
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in a school, office or customer-facing administrative role
- Experience with a school MIS (Arbor/SIMS or similar)
