About the Role

The School Receptionist will be the first point of contact for the school, playing a key role in creating a positive, safe, and professional environment for students, parents, staff, and visitors. You will support the smooth running of the school office through high-quality administrative and reception services.

Hourly rate Competitive, dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and external visitors
  • Managing the school reception area and signing-in procedures
  • Answering and directing phone calls and emails professionally
  • Supporting attendance and pastoral administration as required
  • Providing general administrative support to senior leaders and office staff
  • Maintaining accurate records and handling sensitive information confidentially
  • Supporting daily school office procedures to ensure smooth operation

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Registration with Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Previous experience working in a school office or reception environment is highly desirable
  • Confident and professional telephone manner
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience using school MIS systems (e.g. Arbor) desirable
  • Highly organised, reliable, and flexible
  • Calm, friendly, and approachable under pressure
  • A proactive β€œcan-do” attitude and strong team ethic
