This Learning Support Assistant opportunity is to work at a secondary school based in North Somerset. You will be working with a student with challenging behaviour, who has a diagnosis of ADHD and ASD with a demandant-avoidant profile. You will be attending all lessons with the student, overseeing social interactions, opportunities for Occupational Therapy (sensory) activities, as well as building a relationship with them and carrying out wellbeing activities.

You will be working within the Student Welfare Team in the school's 'Hub centre', which supports children that have additional learning needs, with the school's SEND team supporting learners with additional learning needs. From previous staff feedback, this is a great team and place to work, both for the colleagues that you will be working with and the setting and resources you have at your disposal. The ideal person will have an enthusiastic nature and good collaborative team-working skills from previous school-based support work with children. The typical qualifications & skills we are looking for include:

  • Literacy & numeracy (English & Maths) GCSE grade A* - C
  • Good ICT skills

  • Good rapport (staff & students)
