Element Recruitment are working with an exciting and growing organisation in Bristol who are looking for a Temporary Facilities and Operations Manager to join them during a key period of growth and change. This is a broad, hands-on role with responsibility for keeping the organisation’s office, laboratory and operational facilities running smoothly. You’ll take ownership of facilities, suppliers, budgets, logistics, health and safety administration and day-to-day site operations. A key part of the role will also involve supporting an upcoming site relocation, coordinating the facilities and logistics workstream to ensure a smooth transition.

The Role

  • Managing day-to-day facilities and site operations across office and technical environments
  • Coordinating contractors, service providers, utilities and specialist suppliers
  • Supporting and coordinating an upcoming site relocation, including equipment moves, supplier scheduling and operational continuity
  • Taking a hands-on approach to resolving day-to-day facilities issues and arranging specialist contractors where required
  • Managing facilities and operational budgets, tracking spend and supporting procurement activity
  • Maintaining records for site services, utilities, assets and contracted works
  • Supporting the administration of health and safety and compliance systems, including COSHH, waste management and site documentation
  • Coordinating audits, inspections, permitting and other compliance requirements
  • Managing purchasing, quotes, purchase orders, consumables and supplier relationships
  • Coordinating goods in/out, deliveries, collections, storage and inventory
  • Maintaining asset, equipment and consumables records
  • Supporting operational logistics for trials, demonstrations, visits and other key business activities
  • Providing general hands-on operational support, including trackers, schedules and internal coordination

About You

We’re looking for someone with significant experience within facilities, operations, logistics or a similar environment. You could come from a technical, manufacturing, laboratory, industrial or other operational setting. You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a Facilities Manager, Operations Manager, Site Manager or similar role
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers and service providers
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing budgets and operational spend
  • Knowledge of health and safety and compliance processes
  • Experience coordinating logistics, purchasing, assets or inventory
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of a broad function
  • A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to get involved in the day-to-day detail
  • Confidence working around technical equipment, materials and specialist suppliers
  • Experience supporting projects, relocations or major operational changes would be highly advantageous
