Are you a detail-oriented payroll professional looking for your next challenge? We're currently partnering with a well-established and growing business in Gloucester to recruit a Payroll Assistant on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative finance team where you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a diverse workforce.

The Role: As Payroll Assistant, you will support the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations and internal policies. You’ll be working closely with HR and Finance teams to maintain payroll accuracy and support employees with any payroll-related queries.

  • Process weekly and monthly payroll for UK employees, ensuring all data is accurate and deadlines are met
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure they are up to date and compliant
  • Handle queries regarding pay, tax, pensions, and other payroll matters
  • Administer statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.)
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with year-end tasks including P60s and P11Ds
  • Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies when required

About You:

  • Previous experience in a payroll role (in-house or bureau)
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Confident using payroll systems (experience with Sage, ADP, or similar is advantageous)
  • A team player with strong communication skills
  • CIPP qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential
