Financial Accountant | Central Bristol | £40,000 - £50,000 + Great Package and Study (if applicable)
Are you looking for that pivotal first move out of practice into industry? Or perhaps you’re an ambitious, part-qualified to newly qualified accountant with a sharp eye for technical detail looking for a role with real commercial bite?
If you are looking for a business where your technical expertise directly influences commercial decisions, this is your platform.
Joining a thriving, international business, this is a broad, high-visibility role where you won't just be grinding out month-end numbers in isolation. You’ll be taking full ownership of the UK entity’s balance sheet, partnering directly with commercial sales teams, and aligning local reporting with global group standards.
Why This Role?
This position offers the ultimate springboard, blending core statutory rigour with high-impact commercial exposure:
- Commercial Partnering & Revenue Assurance: Act as the gatekeeper for revenue recognition (IFRS). You will collaborate directly with sales leaders to review customer contracts, validate complex invoicing, and manage revenue/cost deferrals.
- Full Balance Sheet Ownership: Lead end-to-end financial control, including clean balance sheet reconciliations, journal postings, bank management, and working capital optimisation (cash flow & DSO improvement).
- FP&A & Strategic Reporting: Support budgeting, rolling cash forecasts, and detailed actual vs. forecast variance analysis alongside senior financial controllers.
- Audit & Compliance Ownership: Take the lead on audit preparation, pulling together audit packs and defending key accounting treatments.
Your Profile:
- Either a First-Time Mover from Practice (Audit or Accounts) OR a Part-Qualified to Qualified Accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) with a strong technical accounting background. ICAEW study support also available.
- Confident with core financial accounting principles (IFRS / UK GAAP), accruals, deferrals, and revenue recognition rules.
- Excellent communication skill where you’re comfortable challenging sales teams constructively and translating complex data into clear answers.
- An ambitious self-starter who naturally looks for process efficiencies and enjoys solving operational finance puzzles.
