Element has an opportunity for an experienced Application Sales Engineer to join its growing commercial team within its Connected Technologies business. You would be supporting customers getting their products to market faster, supporting them from R&D to reality in the cutting edge of technology across multiple markets, including Military and Aerospace, Consumer, Industrial and IoT.
Our Application Sales Engineers (ASEs) are technically minded commercial colleagues. Ambassadors for Element, our ASEs' technical knowledge and understanding provide reassurance to our customers that they can trust Element with their testing, inspection, and certification needs. Fantastic communicators, our ASEs actively listen to their customers’ needs and are prepared to ask probing questions to interpret their technical requirements. They also provide the bridge between sales and operations, ensuring we present a unified, one Element response to our customers. This is a highly collaborative role that blends technical problem-solving with customer interaction. Our ASEs are critical to ensuring our quotes are competitive, feasible, and aligned with both customer expectations and business goals.
Core Responsibilities:
- CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT & TECHNICAL SUPPORT/QUOTING: Respond to RFQs and technical enquiries with accurate pricing and service recommendations. Interpret requirements to deliver fit for purpose solutions. Engage customers by phone and email to clarify needs and present options. Spot opportunities for additional services through consultative questioning.
- COLLABORATION: Work with sales and operations colleagues to ensure quotes meet the customer’s requirements. Contribute to weekly S&OP meetings by sharing pipeline insights and customer needs.
- COMPLIANCE & CONDUCT: Keep CRM records accurate, up to date, and complete. Comply with Element’s commercial policies and compliance requirements. Demonstrate Element’s values of Integrity, Care and Progress. Operate within all applicable laws and uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct.
- ONGOING DEVELOPMENT: Participate in training, coaching and team learning events. Engage with Element Academy and other resources to strengthen skills. Stay up to date with Element’s service portfolio and capabilities. Share knowledge and best practices with peers to strengthen the team’s overall performance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant technical knowledge; Electronics, Physics or Engineering: sales experience an advantage.
- Experience in the Testing, Inspection and Certification industry is desirable.
- Desirable to have skills in EMC and Mil / Aero.
- Skilled at explaining technical concepts to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Strong knowledge of quotation process (can be developed on the job).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in engineering, science, business, or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Familiarity with CRM an advantage.
