The Offshore Production Operative is responsible for mixing and packaging products at our Wigan facility, with a primary focus on our Offshore range of water‑based fluids. The role includes following standard operating procedures, manual handling of materials up to 25kg, adhering to internal quality standards, blending and packaging products, and storing and handling chemicals in a manufacturing environment. The operative must accurately measure and mix chemicals following job specifications and safety guidelines, pack products, label and seal containers to the required quality standards, and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations.
Responsibilities
- Follow standard operating procedures and works instructions for all production tasks.
- Accurately measure, mix and blend chemicals within the specified safety guidelines.
- Package products, label and seal containers to the required quality standards.
- Store and handle chemicals safely in a manufacturing environment.
- Conduct inspections, checks and calibrations of equipment; report faults to management.
- Assist in offloading, storage and handling of chemicals and materials.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing or mixing/blending position.
- Fork Lift Truck licence and experience operating lift trucks in a manufacturing setting.
- Basic functional maths and English skills, including reading, understanding and following written instructions; basic arithmetic (subtraction, addition, multiplication, division).
- Basic IT skills – proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of chemical production processes and equipment operation.
- Awareness of chemical safety, PPE use, and regulatory requirements such as COSHH.
- Mechanical aptitude to operate and perform basic troubleshooting on production equipment.
- Understanding of quality control principles and the importance of product consistency.
- Documentation skills: accurate completion of production records and adherence to written procedures.
- Physical fitness: capable of manual tasks including lifting up to 25kg, standing for extended periods, and working in varied environmental conditions.
