Element has an opportunity for a Trainee Test Engineer to join our growing automotive team in Wednesbury. This is a great opportunity to develop your engineering career within a global Testing, Inspection and Certification business.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and calibrating all laboratory test equipment to UKAS and OEM requirements
  • Preparation of automotive test samples / specimens and fixture preparation
  • Testing materials and components to various specifications & standards
  • Preparing and compiling test reports when required
  • Adhering to regulations and laboratory policies regarding health and safety
  • Maintaining accurate and systematic records in accordance with documented procedures
  • Performing tasks as assigned by the Senior Laboratory staff
  • Ensure all Quality and H&S procedures are fully adhered to
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic working environment

Skills / Qualifications

  • A good general education including GCSE’s in English, Maths and Sciences
  • Experience in operating workshop machinery is preferred but not essential
  • An inquisitive approach to learn about product engineering and testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident, punctual and well organised
  • The ability to develop strong working relationships with both colleagues and clients and be able to work to tight deadlines
