FIRA International, part of Element, has an opportunity for a Trainee Furniture Test Technician to join our growing team in Stevenage. We are the commercial service provider to the Furniture Industry Research Association, specialising in providing a range of testing services to the furniture industry. We exist to help customers ensure that their materials, products, systems, and operations are safe, quality compliant, and ultimately fit for purpose.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that test items are correctly handled and stored.
- All test preparation (e.g. unpack and move furniture to test area).
- Enter and update all job status on testing system.
- Conduct all tests to recognised test standard methodology, our procedures, and general quality requirements.
- Correctly set up, monitor, and measure each test.
- Ensure that test results are accurately recorded.
- Understand and apply relevant standards for each test.
- Be prepared to assist in any test area and learn additional skills as directed.
- Assist in accepting all testing deliveries, sign for, and book in samples.
- Observe all health and safety regulations.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Possesses the ability to perform testing (training provided).
- Able to work alone and as part of a team.
- Complete testing from start to finish.
- Read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required.
- Ability to construct and maintain test fixtures and other equipment to ensure proper working order based on client needs.
- Ensures timely and accurate results.
This role may suit either a Warehouse Operative, Logistics Technician, Production Technician, College Leaver, or Labourer looking for a change of career or starting it.
Working Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, 8am to 4pm.
