Warringtonfire has an exciting opportunity for a Testing Officer to join our growing team based within our Reaction to Fire laboratory inHolmsfield Road Warrington.
This is a great opportunity to develop your career within a Global Testing, Inspection & Certification business.
Responsibilities
- Act as reviewing officer in relation to authorised tests and ensuring that the following stages of the work are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the appropriate test standard – liaising closely with certification department and relevant Quality and SHE requirements:
- Review and prepare test specimens.
- Review and determine the required physical properties of test specimens.
- Review the conditioning of test specimens.
- Liaise with client at all stages of the work from initial enquiry through to reporting of results.
- Operate test equipment, conduct and, review tests.
- Prepare test reports.
- Invoice tests.
- Liaising with Suppliers to obtain quotes for work/consumables needed including full utilisation of the ‘Internal Goods Requisition Order Form’
- Ensure at least 95% of target delivery dates are met and provide sales forecast data
- Assist the operations manager in the management and development of the wider department where necessary, including through training and mentoring of junior staff.
- Maintain own professional development and raise profile of EWF by attending relevant exhibitions, seminars and committee meetings
- Delegating, in an appropriate manner, duties to subordinates in order that they gain necessary experience and confidence and increase their proficiency and value to the company
Skills / Qualifications
- A-Level or Degree qualifications relating to either Science, Chemistry, or Engineering
- Experience of working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory would be beneficial as this will provide a good foundation to work from
- Excellent literacy and analysis skills to read and interpret standards, operating procedures and test reports
- Practical laboratory skills are desirable but extensive on the job training will be provided
- We are keen to find people who have an interest in testing and who have an inquisitive nature regarding their field of work, how equipment functions, etc
- Excellent problem-solving skills backed up by a firm mathematical foundation such that when equipment does fail (as it does in the harsh environment that we work in), you will be able to work with the wider team to determine root cause
- A team player who takes pride in providing excellent customer service and completing tasks on time
- Attention to detail and not afraid to raise questions
