Overview
Warringtonfire has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Assistant to join our growing team based within our Reaction to Fire laboratory at Holmsfield Road, Warrington. This is a great opportunity to develop your career within a Global Testing, Inspection & Certification business.
Responsibilities
- Conduct authorised tests and ensure that the work complies with the appropriate Standard, UK Fire Test Study Group resolution, EGOLF resolutions and relevant Warringtonfire Quality and SHE requirements
- Preparation of test specimens for testing
- Determination of required physical properties of test specimens
- Conditioning of test specimens prior to testing
- Liaising with client during tests (under supervision of immediate supervisor)
- Operation of test equipment and conduct of tests
- Assisting immediate supervisor with the preparation of test reports
- Ensuring that target delivery dates are met and budget/sales targets are achieved
Skills / Qualifications
- Academic qualifications of minimum A-level in science or engineering subjects or equivalent
- Higher education to HND would be favourable but not essential
- Experience of working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory would be beneficial
- Excellent literacy and analysis skills to read and interpret standards, operating procedures and test reports
- Practical laboratory skills are desirable but extensive on the job training will be provided
- Interest in testing and an inquisitive nature
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a solid mathematical foundation to determine root causes when equipment fails
- Team player who provides excellent customer service and completes tasks on time
- Attention to detail and willingness to raise questions
