Safety Health & Environmental (SHE) Manager

Overview
Element has an excellent opportunity for a Safety, Health and Environment Manager to support its Environmental business across 10 locations in the UK. As a member of the divisional leadership team, this role will partner with local management to implement the Element SHE program.
This position reports directly to the EMEAA SHE Director and works closely with the Environmental Divisional Director and the EMEAA teams. It is based in North West of England and involves frequent travel to Element locations and client sites across the UK and Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Support divisional leadership in integrating the SHE program into daily operations.
- Ensure roles and responsibilities are understood and resources allocated appropriately.
- Provide expertise, guidance, and challenge to improve SHE standards.
- Support the creation, monitoring, and reporting of progress on improvement plans.
- Coach leadership and operational teams on SHE practices.
- Assist in documenting annual SHE improvement plans.
- Support local SHE Managers and focal points.
- Facilitate audits and management system reviews.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and Element SHE requirements.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and share best practices.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Report on progress of SHE initiatives to senior management.

Skills / Qualifications
- Degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Management, Risk Management, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of local safety, health, and environmental laws.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience, including some management experience.
- Experience with construction, demolition, or industrial site environments; laboratory familiarity is a plus.
- Ability to interpret safety and operational documentation.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Competence in analyzing safety data and exposure limits.
- Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
- Problem-solving skills with practical and variable situations.
- Ability to interpret various instructions and data formats.
- Valid driver’s license with minimal endorsements.
- Experience with safety standards, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and environmental compliance.
