Element are currently recruiting for a Regional Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Manager. As a leader of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Team, this position will partner with business leaders and workforce to provide support and implementation of the company SHE programs. This position reports directly to the Division Director supporting multiple divisions within the identified region. The office for this position will be based on the location of candidate and proximity to an Element location, Hitchin being of first choice.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the implementation and execution of a company focused SHE program potentially across multiple countries.
- Implement regulatory and legislation SHE changes and ensure local teams fully understand impacts.
- Establish cross communication within the safety, health and environmental professional community.
- Ensure the One Element Safety culture is established and in alignment with company Mission, Vision, and Values to drive injuries out of the business, provide a healthy work environment and minimise the environmental impact.
- Understand event/KPI trends and partner with multiple divisional teams to effectively deliver plans to address negative trends and/or continue to reinforce positive initiatives.
- Responsible for the reporting on the performance of the SHE management system, ensuring two way communication to management, colleagues and any other interested parties.
- Drive special SHE program focus points such as safety improvement week and/or specific auditing (power cords/walk paths/machine guarding/etc.), and environmental performance.
- Support M&A implementation plans for 180 day integration activities as needed.
Skills / Qualifications
- Degree in Risk/ Loss /Safety Management, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or other related fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The candidate must have a strong understanding of country/local safety, health and environmental laws and legislation.
- Minimum experience level: 8-10 years experience in a Safety, Health and Environmental leadership role with management experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, design specifications, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organisation.
- Ability to calculate figures, statistics and amounts such as safety and health data as well as exposure limits.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardisation exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must have valid Drivers License.
- Exposure to country safety standards, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and environmental compliance.
- Able to train and deliver key messages to large diverse groups.
- Proven track record of working in and/or influencing relationships where there is exposure to sensitive issues.
- Experience working with multiple locations and company leadership.
- Must be proficient and experienced working with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events/projects in the community, with customers and within the company and externally.
- Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Well developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs.
- Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect.
