Element Digital Engineering is a leading provider of specialist engineering simulation, design, and consultancy support to clients across many industries – including Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Built Environment and Chemical Process – in the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out a range of technical projects and analyses, with some supervision from our more experienced staff, in order to meet the clients' needs and expectations
  • Participate in technical delivery and client relationship management
  • Support business development activities with a range of new and existing clients
  • Integrate and engage with our positive team culture with adherence to Element's core values – care, integrity, and progress

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Have a bachelor's degree (grade 2.1 or above), master's degree or PhD in a relevant engineering, science or applied mathematics discipline.
  • Preferably with experience in the application of structural analysis from first principles or in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Have experience delivering engineering analysis in an engineering company and/or engineering consultancy setting, including managing projects or aspects of engineering projects.
  • Have strong technical knowledge and experience in solving problems with FEA, including defining an approach, model setup, post processing, verification and validation.
  • This should include statics, dynamics, and frequency domain, ideally in at least two of aerospace, nuclear, renewable energy, oil & gas, or defence sectors.
  • Have a working understanding of structural integrity topic areas such as fatigue, creep and plasticity; as well as material behaviour.
  • Ideally have knowledge of widely used analysis tools, including ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, or Calculix.
  • Some proficiency in the use of programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, VBA, C# or C/C++ would be an advantage.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Are either already at, or actively working toward, Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) status.
  • Like a challenge, are flexible thinkers and aren’t intimidated by unfamiliar problems.
  • Enjoy client and colleague interaction, take responsibility for delivery, and want the opportunity to work within a growing and dynamic engineering team.
