Element has an opportunity for a Metallurgist whose primary responsibility is to support the Metallurgy Lab Manager in running day to day laboratory affairs along with site and field testing.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure work compliance to ISO 17025 requirements
  • Perform metallurgical failure analysis on failed metallic (ferrous and non-ferrous) components, generating failure investigation reports with technical findings
  • Carry out the mechanical tests for material properties evaluation and weld procedure specification qualification as per various international standards (ASME, API, AWS and BS)
  • Carry out the corrosion tests as per NACE standards and other project specifications to determine the susceptibility of material to corrosion in various service conditions
  • Perform metallographic examinations on various materials to determine grain size, cleanliness, volume percentage of phases and general microstructure evaluation
  • Coordinate with the clients and third party witness as to the testing details
  • Manage technicians to carry out work as per the planning schedule
  • Be willing to assist in other activities from time to time that may be requested by the department manager to assist in the execution of Element Technology annual targets and budget

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Metallurgy or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a laboratory in the field of metallurgy testing
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Good maths skills
  • Knowledge and experience of safe operation of metallurgical testing equipment and operating in lab and/or industrial environment
  • Excellent organisational and team leading skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
