Element is looking for three Summer placement Laboratory Technicians for their busy laboratory in Deeside. Element Deeside is the largest analytical chemistry laboratory within the Element Group and the market leading UK laboratory undertaking the testing of soils, waters, wastes, oils, NAPLs, ambient air, soil vapours and gases from all over the world. The laboratory undertakes high volume routine analysis as well as offering bespoke method development, technical support and hydrocarbon forensic interpretations to enhance the support we can deliver. The laboratory has an international reputation for service excellence and supports clients that require a higher level of technical expertise, reliability in data quality and seamless project management from sample collection to timely delivery of data.

Responsibilities

  • Working in Sample reception and/or soil/water preparation areas assisting in the logging in and/or preparation of soil/water samples
  • Using the LIMS system to organize workloads and prioritising samples in a timely manner
  • Using the LIMS system to locate samples and scanning samples into the correct location
  • Sample Retrieval and Storage
  • Waste Disposal
  • Adhering to good lab practices and housekeeping at all times

Skills / Qualifications

  • A science background and education to A level is preferable but not essential
  • The right aptitude and/or previous relevant experience will also be taken into account
  • Full training will be provided – no experience necessary
  • Highly motivated and organised individual
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
  • This position would suit a candidate who is undertaking a degree
