Element has an opportunity for an Engineering Manager - Development. In this role you will be reporting to the General Manager for the Element Digital Engineering business, a leading provider of specialist engineering consultancy services, supporting clients across highly regulated and technically demanding industries including Nuclear, Aerospace, Energy, and Defence, both in the UK and internationally. As Engineering Manager you will be a key member of the leadership team leading the Development Engineering team with full accountability for the performance of that part of the business.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for the safe operation of the Engineering Office and all colleagues and visitors who operate within it.
- Accountable for the performance of the Engineering Team ensuring delivery of all financial and customer commitments and adherence to all Safety and Quality requirements.
- Maintain contact and relationships with clients in line with company policies with accountability to develop and maximise the revenue and profit value of named accounts.
- Recruit and retain top talent to support the performance and growth of the business.
- Building a strong team culture through ensuring a positive team environment that promotes collaboration, diversity and inclusivity, open communication, and adherence to company values.
- Creates the environment for team members to develop and realise their full potential through robust deployment of the company’s performance, reward and development frameworks and policies.

Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (grade 2.1 or above), Masters or PhD in a relevant engineering, science or applied mathematics discipline from an accredited college or university.
- 10+ years within an Engineering business with demonstrated experience of leading engineering teams.
- Experience delivering engineering programmes in an engineering consultancy setting and an interest in supporting the development of junior team members and other leaders.
- Excellent project management and verbal/written communication skills.
- Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) or actively working towards chartership status.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in either thermofluids, structural integrity/durability, electromagnetics, data science, systems, design or development engineering, technical safety or technical software.
- Like a challenge, flexible thinker, and not intimidated by unfamiliar problems.
- Enjoy client and colleague interaction, take responsibility for delivery, and want the opportunity to work within a growing and dynamic engineering team.
- Experience within a consultancy business would be beneficial but not essential.
