Asbestos Competency Auditor Technical Reviewer

Element has an opportunity for a Competency Auditor to undertake site competency audits as required. This is an opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and the willingness to learn and develop. This position is suited to someone with previous asbestos air monitoring, bulk ID and surveying experience.

As an Asbestos Auditor, you will be responsible for ensuring that Element technical site-based staff are working in accordance to current CAR 2012 (Control of Asbestos Regulations), and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance and Element ‘Standard Operating Procedures’ (SOPs)

• Undertaking site competency and training audits
• Updating staff training records where applicable to reflect audits and training undertaken
• Updating Authorisations Matrix following submission/completion of satisfactory audits
• Conducting blind survey QC re-inspections and 4SC re-inspections to ensure requirements are met over a rolling 12-month period
• Assisting with the induction of new starters as directed by the Technical Manager
• Ensure that all staff are assessed in relation to UKAS requirements, HSE Guidance and Element Standard Operating Procedures
• Communicating any changes to procedure at a local level
• Technical review and authorisation of survey reports

• 5 years’ asbestos industry experience, operating with a UKAS accredited environment
• Experience of working with a Quality management system to ISO 17025 and ISO 17020 standards
• The candidate must hold BOHS P402, P403 and P404, P401 would be desirable, but not essential
• Knowledge of relevant HSE Guidance (e.g. HSG 248, HSG 264) and UKAS documents (Lab30, etc.)
• Ability and willingness to work independently as dictated by variable site requirements
• The candidate must be willing to travel
• The candidate must work with highest integrity and be confident of raising and communicating issues when they are observed
• Experience of working within a commercially motivated environment#LI-JD2
