Overview
Warringtonfire, part of the Element Group, has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Assistant to join our Fire laboratory in High Wycombe.
As a Technical Assistant, you will be performing a variety of tests on items such as roller shutters, fire doors, windows, and building materials over our fire, smoke, and acoustics laboratories. Our testing determines whether our clients\’ products perform as intended.
Responsibilities
- Fabrication of supporting constructions of fire, smoke, and acoustics test specimens
- Fabrication of specialist constructions required for fire, smoke, and acoustics tests
- Installation of fire, smoke, and acoustics test specimens
- Instrumentation of fire, smoke, and acoustics test specimens
- Conducting fire, smoke, and acoustics tests
- Demolition and disposal of test remains
- Maintenance of laboratory, test equipment, and safety equipment
Skills / Qualifications
- A good general level of education
- Ideally experienced in the construction industry or similar
- Preference would be given to individuals experienced in fire safety testing
- Capable of using a variety of hand tools
- Demonstrable ability to learn quickly and absorb new skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Experience of meeting deadlines
- Can follow instructions and procedures accurately and in a timely and efficient manner
- Forklift licence/experience would be an advantage, although full training will be provided
