Location: New Malden – Hybrid Working: 2-3 Days a Week On-Site
You will design, develop, and maintain cutting-edge PLC and HCI solutions deployed to submarines. This company is committed to offering advanced technology solutions with expertise in maritime control and instrumentation systems to support the national security of the United Kingdom. We are looking for an engineer who is familiar with PLCs and large infrastructure SCADA solutions in a highly regulated industry, with a specific focus on functional safety and product security.
About the Role
- Write Functional and Design specification to cover all aspects of code development
- Develop and implement SCADA/HCI applications
- Implement data communications with third-party equipment
- Ensure compliance with company standards and all relevant statutory requirements
- Conduct/support Factory Acceptance Tests with sub-suppliers and customers
About You
- Experience with programming languages such as C++, C#, Java in defence, maritime, aerospace, or a similarly regulated industrial sector
- Design and development of control / graphical user interface software
- Experience in the design and integration of PLCs (Rockwell and Siemens preferred)
- Experience with client-server applications and Computer Science fundamentals, such as Object Oriented Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms
- Hands-on unit testing, software configuration management and version control experience
- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent in Software Engineering or a related discipline
- Understanding of Functional Safety (BS EN 61508, 61511 or 62061) is highly desirable
- You must be a sole British Citizen eligible for a high-level security clearance
Due to the nature of work undertaken at our client's site, incumbents of these positions are required to meet special nationality rules and therefore, these vacancies are only open to sole British Nationals. Applicants who meet this criteria will also be required to undergo security clearance vetting, if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
