My client provides innovative engineering solutions to the defence sector internationally, including e.g. deployable containerised systems.
They are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their engineering team and play a key role in producing electrical designs, ensuring seamless integration of electrical systems into larger engineering projects.
Electrical Design Engineer
The Electrical Design Engineer will collaborate with a talented team of engineers to deliver technical solutions that meet the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Producing conceptual designs, detailed designs, integration/installation drawings, design specifications, operational documentation and validation evidence for electrical engineering solutions.
- Working closely with other design engineers to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems into the overall project design.
- Ensuring all electrical design solutions meet safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements.
- Managing third-party designers, ensuring their designs meet project requirements.
- Providing design support to installation and commissioning teams to ensure smooth implementation.
- Participating in internal and external design review meetings, providing expertise and guidance on electrical design matters.
- Identifying and supporting opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements and overall business improvements within electrical design processes.
- Assisting in preparing technical tenders and budgets, providing electrical design input to ensure accurate scope definition.
- Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical systems and components.
You will have previous experience in the design of electrical installations for compact or enclosed areas, within ships or boats, buildings, products or services. Experience of multiple services and their integration within containerised or modular builds would be beneficial. You will need to be proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD (ideally with other 3D packages), as well as Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel & Outlook.
Additional Experience
- Simulation and analysis tools for electrical systems (such as ‘Trimble MEP’ / DIALux / Relux).
- The identification and rectification of defects encountered during operational service.
- Working knowledge of 18th Edition (amendment 2) wiring regulations.
- LPS and earthing systems.
- EMC and Tempest installations.
- Working knowledge of relevant BS / ISO standards.
