Overview
We are supporting a highly secure UK government programme and are looking to engage two Technical Authors to meet growing demand for technical documentation capability. We are particularly interested in individuals with a background in:
- Electronics systems
- Communications & networking technologies
Key Responsibilities
- Produce clear, accurate, and structured technical documentation for complex systems
- Translate engineering concepts (electronics / comms / networking) into user-friendly materials
- Collaborate with engineers and SMEs to capture and document system functionality
- Maintain and manage documentation
- Create technical diagrams and illustrations
- Track and manage workload
- Work autonomously—proactively identifying tasks and driving delivery
- Ensure documentation meets programme and security standards
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience as a Technical Author within defence, government, or highly regulated environments
- Strong understanding of either:
- Electronics
- Communications / networking
- Ability to work independently and engage effectively with technical stakeholders
- Must be eligible for UK eDV clearance (UK national, suitable background, willing to undergo vetting)
Desirable Experience
- Background within MOD / defence programmes (e.g. DE&S experience)
- Degree qualified in Electronics, Communications, or a related discipline
- Ex-Forces candidates, particularly from Royal Signals
- Experience working in secure environments
- Local to the Cheltenham area
Working Pattern
Predominantly onsite (4–5 days per week due to security requirements). Some flexibility for low-side/offline documentation work where appropriate.
