My client, a world leader in the defence sector and supplier of missiles and missile systems, requires a Project Engineer to join the Electromagnetic Compatibility team, providing EMC support across a range of programmes. Their Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Radiation Effects (RE) department includes a highly skilled project consultancy team that is embedded across all projects to ensure good EMC practice & design.

This role supports programmes throughout the full engineering lifecycle, with a specific focus on design for EMC and RE, providing project teams with advice and guidance on the design of products to ensure that they meet the EMC requirements, as well as being responsible for designing and producing test plans and bespoke electronic test solutions.

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be qualified to a Higher Education level in a relevant electrical or electronic subject, with significant experience in analogue and digital electronics design with an awareness or specialism in EMC and/or RF systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading electronic design work packages.
  • Providing advice on design for EMC and RE compliance.
  • Designing and producing test plans and bespoke electronic test solutions.
  • Applying SPICE simulation tools (LTspice, ORCAD).
  • Managing work packages within time, quality, and cost constraints.
  • Leading, managing, and developing teams of engineers.

Additional beneficial experience:

  • Knowledge in the application of a military EMC standard to system, sub-system or equipment level (e.g. Defence Standard 59-41 / 59-411, AECTP500, Mil-Std-461, RTCA DO160 / EUROCAE ED-14).
  • Experience in delivering support around the subject of electromagnetic compatibility.

Location & Compensation: Bristol. Salary up to £55k (£65k for Lead Engineers) DOE plus bonus, hybrid working and benefits.
