A specialist maritime and defence engineering organisation is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established team delivering complex equipment to support the Royal Navy.

This is an opportunity to work across the full design lifecycle, taking concepts through to verification, testing and acceptance while contributing to technically challenging projects.

You Will Be:

  • Designing mechanical components and assemblies to meet functional and performance requirements
  • Producing engineering drawings, calculations and design documentation
  • Undertaking structural assessments and providing justification for design decisions through hand calculations and computational methods
  • Supporting testing, trials and acceptance activities to ensure designs meet requirements
  • Presenting designs to internal stakeholders and recommending improvements
  • Delivering work in line with agreed quality, cost and timescale expectations

Requirements:

  • HNC, HND or Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Mechanical design experience within a complex and regulated engineering environment
  • Proficiency using 3D CAD, Solid Edge would be preferred
  • Working knowledge of FEA, including stress and shock analysis
  • Producing engineering drawings to recognised standards
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Experience designing equipment for marine environments would be advantageous

Eligibility:

Due to the nature of work at our client's site, these vacancies are only open to British Citizens who hold SC clearance or can obtain it.

This is a permanent role.
