Manufacturing Engineering Technician / Engineer Permanent | £28,000–£45,000 | Canterbury, Kent On-site Our client are a a well-established manufacturer specialising in high-reliability interconnect solutions for defence, aerospace and related industries. The organisation operates to rigorous quality standards including ISO 9001 and AS9100, supporting complex manufacturing processes in a highly regulated environment. They have experienced a sustained period of growth and are looking for a manufacturing engineer/Technician to join them. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician or Engineer will support the Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader and team, contributing to the continuous development of the manufacturing engineering function while ensuring customer requirements are met. Key Responsibilities Perform product inspection and build validation, completing required FAIR documentation and maintaining internal logs Follow established procedures to verify product, material, and component quality Ensure products meet design intent, are fit for function, and free from defects Submit FAIR and related validation documentation to customers and liaise as required Investigate quality and production issues, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions Access and maintain technical product data using a Product Data Management (PDM) system Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards Support internal and external audits including ISO 9001 and AS9100, assisting with preparation and execution Liaise with suppliers and customers to resolve quality concerns and verify corrective actions Contribute technical input to product and process design, supporting risk analyses such as DFMEA and PFMEA Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and perform additional duties as requiredPerson Specification Essential BTEC or GCSE level qualification in a relevant technical or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience Practical experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to work Effective communication and teamworking skills Organised and reliable with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesDesirable HNC, A Level or higher qualification in engineering or manufacturing disciplines Experience in electronics, cable or harness assembly, or connector manufacturing Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Creo Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems including SAP or Oracle Understanding of quality management systems and standards including ISO 9001 and AS9100 Exposure to first article inspection standards and root cause analysis toolsDue to the nature of work at the client’s site, these vacancies are only open to British Citizens who have the right to work in the UK.
