We are seeking an Installation Technician to join a technical team responsible for deploying UHF/VHF two-way radio systems across commercial, residential and infrastructure environments. The role involves hands-on installation and commissioning tasks executed from detailed design layouts provided by qualified engineers.
The successful candidate will install radiating and feeder coaxial cables, mount passive RF components such as splitters and couplers, and perform cable terminations, VSWR tests and continuity checks using RF test equipment under supervision. Additional duties include assisting with RF repeater and amplifier installations, documenting site progress, maintaining tool inventory, and supporting fault diagnosis during commissioning.
Essential skills include previous structured cabling or low-voltage system installation experience, proficiency with hand tools and RF test devices, and the ability to interpret cable schematics, containment plans and block diagrams. Candidates must hold valid CSCS or ECS site access certification and possess a full UK driving licence. Practical understanding of safe cable routing, containment, and labelling standards is required. The role demands flexibility to work in confined spaces or at height when necessary.
Desirable competencies include familiarity with distributed antenna systems, experience in complex environments such as data centres or tunnels, and qualifications or experience with working at height, MEWP operation and ladder/harness use.
This exciting position offers exposure to high-profile infrastructure projects, on-the-job training from experienced RF engineers, and potential career progression into commissioning or engineering roles. PPE, tools, equipment and a work vehicle are provided. This is a permanent role with a salary range of £25,000 to £29,000.
