Lead frontline delivery across signalling and telecoms operations while developing high-performing teams and ensuring the safe, compliant maintenance of critical rail infrastructure. You will play a key role in driving operational performance, strengthening safety culture, and delivering reliable railway services.
Location and setup
Full-time role based across a couple of working sites. Shift-based working including days, nights, weekends and on-call, with travel between locations as required.
What you will be doing
- Lead end-to-end delivery of inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal activities across signalling and telecoms assets
- Direct and organise team workloads to ensure safe, efficient and compliant delivery of all work
- Establish and maintain robust safe systems of work, ensuring adherence to all safety standards
- Provide hands-on leadership, setting clear expectations and maintaining high performance standards
- Manage team competence, ensuring appropriate training, development and compliance
- Oversee quality assurance and ensure all work meets required industry standards and procedures
- Ensure all tools, plant, vehicles and materials are fit for purpose and available when required
- Produce operational reports to support performance monitoring and continuous improvement
- Support effective communication between teams, contractors and wider operational stakeholders
Your experience
- Strong background in railway signalling maintenance, inspection and faulting activities
- Experience leading or supervising teams in a safety-critical environment
- Sound understanding of operational delivery and safety management in rail or similar industries
- Ability to communicate effectively and influence team performance
- Experience working to industry standards and procedures
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, operational environment
What you will need
- Valid IRSE Combined Signalling Maintainer & Fault Finder Licence (1.4.230)
- Proven experience delivering work safely and efficiently within a rail environment
- Knowledge of relevant signalling standards (e.g. NR/L3/SIG/10663, NR/L3/SIG/11231)
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate and direct teams
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure in a safety-critical setting
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends and on-call
