You will take ownership of complex maritime system design decisions shaping next generation capability for surface ship programmes. This role gives you end to end influence across requirements, architecture and delivery.
What you will need:
- British citizen eligible for Security Clearance (SC)
- Ability to obtain SC clearance if not already held
- Strong background in systems engineering within a complex engineering environment
- Experience working across the systems engineering lifecycle from requirements through to validation
- Ability to interpret customer requirements and guide technical decision making

What you will be doing:
- Leading technical oversight across the full system lifecycle from requirements capture through to acceptance
- Translating customer needs into clear system specifications and architectural solutions
- Defining system interfaces, integration approaches and verification strategies
- Supporting technical risk identification and mitigation across bids and delivery
- Leading system engineering reviews and supporting acceptance activities including trials
- Acting as technical authority for system design quality and engineering outputs
Your experience:
- Proven Systems Engineering experience across complex engineered products or systems
- Strong understanding of system architecture, integration and lifecycle delivery
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders
- Ability to analyse complex technical problems and define structured solutions
- Experience supporting verification, validation and acceptance activities
- Strong communication skills with ability to influence technical decisions
Useful Domain knowledge (can be developed on the job):
- Systems engineering and systems engineering lifecycle delivery
- Sonar and underwater acoustics
- Maritime security systems
- Marine technology
- Mine warfare
- Anti submarine warfare
- Command and control systems including network architectures and software
Where you will work:
Winfrith, working onsite 3 to 4 days per week with flexibility discussed. SC clearance eligibility required, with willingness to undergo full clearance process. Foreign travel may be required to support trials, demonstrations and acceptance activities. This is a permanent role.
