This is a unique opportunity to contribute to delivering critical Defence Capability to the UK Armed Forces and other key customers, with a focus on early product lifecycle and research and technology initiatives. About the Role:
- Business Winning: Lead the commercial aspects of new contracts and opportunities, driving the bidding process, collaborating across functions, and developing proposals that maximise business interests.
- Contract Delivery & Management: Oversee the successful execution of contracts, ensuring commitments are met through proactive contract management, change management, and effective problem-solving.
- High-Stakes Negotiations: Drive complex negotiations to secure favourable terms and ensure contractual compliance.
- Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including customers and industry partners, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Commercial Expertise: Apply your deep understanding of contract law, intellectual property, import/export restrictions, and risk mitigation to navigate complex commercial landscapes.
- Reporting & Representation: Communicate progress effectively to senior management and represent the commercial team in key reviews and customer meetings.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience managing complex, high-value contracts across their full lifecycle.
- Advanced negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong capabilities in process and change management.
- Excellent teamwork and influencing skills.
- In-depth commercial understanding spanning from customer engagement to supplier relationships.
- Familiarity with Intellectual Property (IP) protection, contract law, and the ability to draft/modify terms and conditions.
- Understanding of liabilities and risk mitigation.
- Awareness of Import and Export restrictions and licensing requirements.
- Proficiency in using pricing and costing models.
- Good knowledge of IT and business tools, including SAP.
