This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the growth of a leading organisation working on complex and meaningful projects within the defence and security sectors. You will work closely with senior leadership to identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities, predominantly in Cyber and Intelligence. The focus is on developing capture strategies, managing bids through internal processes, and building strong relationships with partners and stakeholders to enhance competitiveness.
You will lead or support pursuits from initial qualification through to proposal submission, ensuring all activity aligns with business objectives and growth plans. Collaboration will be key. Working across technical, commercial, and operational teams, you will help ensure proposals are both compelling and deliverable. Regular reviews, pipeline updates, and strategy discussions will be part of your routine as you help shape future opportunities. Some travelling will be required for this role (up to 25% of the time).
Responsibilities- Lead or support pursuits from qualification through proposal submission, ensuring alignment with business objectives and growth plans.
- Collaborate with technical, commercial, and operational teams to develop compelling and deliverable proposals.
- Identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities, predominantly in Cyber and Intelligence, and build capture strategies.
- Manage bids through internal processes and maintain regular pipeline reviews and strategy discussions.
- Build and nurture relationships with partners and stakeholders to enhance competitiveness.
- Travel up to 25% as required.
- Extensive experience in product, system, service and solution business development and selling within defence, security, or government sectors (cyber preferred).
- Proven track record of identifying, qualifying, and securing new business opportunities.
- Ability to develop and execute successful capture plans.
- Experience working with stakeholders across technical, commercial, and operational teams.
- Strong understanding of business acquisition processes, including proposal development and pipeline management.
- Training in business development or capture methodologies, such as Shipley.
