Are you ready to work on some of the most high-profile defence and/or infrastructure programmes in the UK? A global consultancy is seeking multiple Senior Cost Controllers to join their team to deliver technically complex, large-scale projects while working within an inclusive and supportive environment.
Location and Working Pattern:
- For defence, this role is open to any UK office, including London, Bristol, Plymouth, Birmingham or Manchester.
- For infrastructure only, this position can be based in South West England or the London area.
- You will be expected to be on-site (either office or client site) 2-3 days a week.
Role Overview:
The Senior Cost Controller will be responsible for implementing and maintaining cost control processes to track budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts. The role involves developing cost breakdown structures aligned with project work packages, integrating cost estimates with work breakdown structures, and producing regular cost reports. The post-holder will provide guidance to project teams, support performance management decision-making, and train or coach less experienced colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tailor cost control approaches to client requirements and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain relationships with project managers, finance, and commercial teams.
- Produce accruals and cost reports, including analysis of earned value management information.
- Provide cost advice to project teams and support reporting for performance management.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in cost control within major infrastructure (e.g. utilities, water, airports, highways, rail, etc.) and/or defence projects is essential.
- Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and forecasting techniques.
- Relevant qualification or experience in cost and project management, such as an APM qualification.
- Understanding of project controls, including scheduling, risk and change management.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts is desirable.
- Willingness to travel to client sites as required (up to 3 days a week).
Security and Nationality:
Due to the nature of work at our client’s site, the defence vacancies are only open to British Citizens who hold security clearance or can obtain it. For infrastructure, you must have a valid right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
This is a permanent role.
