We are looking for a Senior Lighting Artist who wants to push visual and technical boundaries to deliver stunning experiences to our players. Collaborating with other artists, designers and engineers you’ll shape and craft both top tier level and cinematic lighting that hits the tone set by the art direction and adds to the goals of the overall experience. Reporting up to the lighting lead, you’ll have influence in how the team approaches different topics in the lighting craft where you’ll help mentor less experienced members of the team to get the best results using the latest technology.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver cutting edge quality level and cinematic lighting
- Work on grading, post process techniques, lens effects and lens flares to add a layer of realism and style to your work
- Set visual targets to inspire the team of what to aim for
- Research new technology and workflows that help push visual quality in the experience
- Mentor less experienced members of the lighting team to work through creative and technical challenges
- Collaborate with art, design and engineering to deliver a cohesive overall experience
- Work under the guidance of the Lighting Lead and support them when needed by owning and driving topics in the lighting team
- Team up with Tech Art to understand performance optimisations and smart approaches to your work
- Communicate progress and raise any issues or proposed solutions with the art directors on the team
Who You Are
- A great collaborator and communicator that wants to work in a multidisciplinary team to solve problems together
- Understand how to use light and colour to guide the player’s eye and evoke different emotions that add to the player experience
- Have excellent knowledge of lighting, shading and PBR for realtime applications, including optimisation for performance and quality (e.g. experience using UE4/5, Frostbite, Unity, and other game engines)
- Experience shipping multiple AAA titles on current gen5 consoles
- Experience with reference capture for Lighting, including HDRI capture and calibration workflows and authoring of skydomes
- Knowledge of colour grading pipelines and tonemapping (e.g. DaVinci Resolve)
- An appetite to train and mentor other members of the team
- A passion for the technical side of realtime lighting along with the creative side
- A broad interest in aspects of visual art including video games (e.g. photography, cinematography, painting, etc.).
- Knowledge of image editing or mastering software (e.g. Photoshop, Nuke, etc.)
- A passion for games and a deep understanding of what makes great player experiences
