External Development Environment Artist

Join DICE and help bring the iconic, immersive worlds of Battlefield to life. We’re looking for a creative and collaborative Environment Artist to join our team of world builders and work closely with our co-development partners to create stunning, large-scale multiplayer environments.

In this role, you’ll focus not only on delivering high-quality visuals, but also on building strong, supportive creative relationships across studios. Reporting to the Art Director, you’ll play a key role in shaping world-class environments through collaborative feedback, clear communication, and shared visual goals.

What You\\\'ll Do

  • Collaborate daily with global co-development teams, writing visual briefs, offering feedback, and helping align creative direction across studios.
  • Take part in regular art reviews with internal and external teams to ensure shared goals and consistent quality.
  • Partner closely with level designers, lighting artists, and tech teams to ensure environments support gameplay and performance needs.
  • Identifying high-impact areas requiring focused effort to achieve target map quality.
  • Recognise key areas of the map where your expertise is needed to ensure design excellence and project alignment.
  • Share knowledge generously and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and feedback-driven culture.
  • Design and build realistic immersive game worlds—from sweeping landscapes to moment-to-moment combat spaces—optimized for multiplayer gameplay.

Who You Are

  • A clear, proactive communicator who enjoys collaborating with co-dev/external teams and understands the value of shared success
  • Passionate about teamwork, continuous learning, and elevating the work of those around you
  • A creative environment artist with a strong eye for space, storytelling, and mood
  • 2-4 years experience in environment or level art for AAA games, preferably FPS shooters and nature
  • Experienced with asset creation and world-building workflows, including photogrammetry and large-scale environment development
  • Strong composition, scene layout, and visual storytelling skills
  • Familiar with the technical considerations of multiplayer games—especially performance, collision, and layout
  • Experienced in processing Lidar data and transforming into optimised game-ready assets
  • Bonus - Familiarity with Battlefield’s world and visual identity
  • Bonus - Experience using procedural tools to create visually stunning natural landscapes
