Electrogear is looking for people who enjoy a challenge building electrical and electronic assemblies. We need an assembly technician to help us meet a growing workload and to take on more work that involves assembly of cable looms, wire harnesses, soldering, repairs, and complex build of PCBs.
The position involves the assembly of military connectors, coax, multicore cable, shielded and twisted pair to name a few, along with soldering and crimping of connectors. You will work from documentation that includes assembly drawings and procedures.
Responsibilities:- Assemble and wire prototype electronic systems, harnesses, and control panels from engineering documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to "red line" drawings as you build.
- Build and route wire harnesses and cable assemblies to specifications.
- Solder components and connectors on circuit boards or wiring assemblies (including through-hole and SMT, if required).
- Assemble prototype electrical systems, control panels, and enclosures.
- Identify and troubleshoot wiring issues and collaborate with engineers to resolve them.
- Maintain proper documentation of assembly procedures and modifications.
- Perform continuity checks, insulation resistance, and other basic electrical tests.
- Handle and manage ESD-sensitive components in accordance with best practices.
- Ensure wiring and assemblies meet safety, reliability, and quality standards.
- 2+ years of experience in wiring, electrical assembly, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency with hand tools (crimpers, strippers, soldering irons, multimeters, etc.).
- Ability to interpret and work from schematics, blueprints, and layout drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity.
- Familiarity with ESD-safe practices.
- Be a team player with initiative.
- Effective communication skills.
- Be able to lift 16 to 25 Kgs, be able to stand or sit for periods of time without issue.
- Technical certification in electronics or electrical technology.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 or IPC J-STD-001 certification.
- Experience working in an R&D or prototyping environment.
- Experience with aerospace, automotive, robotics, or industrial control systems.
