Electro-Tek is a well-established, Aberdeen-based electrical contractor delivering domestic, commercial, and industrial electrical services across Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland.

Due to new contract awards, we are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen our team. This is a full-time role primarily based at our office in Blackburn, Aberdeenshire, with occasional travel to sites within Aberdeen and the surrounding areas.

You will play a key role in managing the commercial and financial aspects of projects, from cost estimation through to reporting and final account preparation. You will work closely with the wider project team to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, within budget, and in line with contractual requirements. You will be the sole Quantity Surveyor in the business, so the ability to work independently and manage your own workload is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and the wider team
  • Prepare and submit Applications for Payment in line with contractual deadlines and timescales
  • Manage the commercial aspects of subcontractors, including assessment and certification of payment applications, management of variations, and agreement of final accounts
  • Identify contractual risks and opportunities, ensuring the wider team is informed and aligned

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying preferred but not essential
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for either a main contractor or subcontractor
  • Previous experience within electrical or M&E contracting would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
  • Experience managing subcontractors, including commercial performance and contract compliance
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Self-motivated, organised, and capable of working independently, while also supporting the wider team
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Legal right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
