Freelance Video Editor - Veritasium

Electrify Video Partners is a dynamic new digital media company that invests in and scales creators with an established YouTube presence. We have invested in various leading channels and Veritasium is one of the leading channels in our portfolio.

Veritasium is a world-leading physics and science education YouTube channel with nearly 20 million subscribers. We craft high-quality, in depth videos for a curious, engaged audience that never stops asking the big questions. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Video Editor to join our remote production team on a freelance basis. The ideal candidate has a passion for physics, or has worked in the science space. You should have experience in creating high-quality digital video / documentary content, and proficiency in video editing software.

The Video Editor will be responsible for creating engaging and informative videos that help explain complex physics concepts to a broad audience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of editing engaging structured factual videos to a high standard with a variety of styles and tones. The ideal candidate wants to work in a world-class team, with the goal to educate and inspire millions of people across the globe. You are eager to learn, coachable, and hold yourself and others to high standards. You have a great attention to detail and take pride in doing your work. You are passionate about making the best possible video and are proactive in every sense – in getting things done, in speaking up with ways things can be improved, and in consistently learning.

This is a freelance contract, on an ongoing basis in line with upcoming videos.

• Edit high-quality videos combining live action, b-roll and animation, collaborating closely with animators
• Deliver world-class videos according to deadlines
• Work with writers and researchers to ensure content is accurate, engaging, and accessible
• Source and integrate music, third-party and archive footage
• Maintain the channel’s established visual language and editing style
• Organise and manage all footage and final deliverables according to delivery specs

Requirements

• Ideally proven experience editing science-related content and/or a strong passion or educational background in science and physics
• 3+ years of video editing experience, with a relevant showreel and a focus on digital/YouTube content
• Ability to pull relevant footage to tell a great story
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and related tools
• Deep understanding of YouTube and social media platforms and the editorial style
• Experience with self-shooting or small crew production is a plus
• Excellent attention to detail and strong multitasking skills
