- Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM), Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and engineering best practices throughout the design process.
- Support prototype builds, assembly activities, testing, and design validation.
- Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure robust and cost‑effective designs.
- Participate in design reviews, technical problem‑solving, and continuous product improvement activities.
- Contribute to product development from concept through to production release.
- Support application engineering activities, including motor selection, sizing, and performance analysis.
What does a Mechanical Design Engineer do at Electrified?
This is a hands‑on engineering position where you will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of electric motors, powertrain components and associated electro‑mechanical assemblies. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary engineering team, taking ownership of designs from initial concept through detailed design, prototyping, testing, validation and release into production.
Technical Skills:
- Significant industrial experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer role.
- Expert‑level proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Experience using PLM/PDM systems, ideally 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Strong experience producing manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation.
- Excellent understanding and practical application of GD&T, Design for Manufacture (DFM), Tolerance stack‑up analysis, and engineering drawing standards.
- Knowledge of mechanical design standards and best practices relating to sealing systems, gears, splines, and rotating machinery.
- Experience designing electro‑mechanical systems and assemblies.
- Good understanding of electric motors, motor topologies, and motor performance characteristics.
- Ability to interpret motor performance curves and support application engineering activities including motor sizing and selection.
