The Contractor Safety Grading Assessor will complete a systematic auditing process with a rigorous recording system for the purpose of improving contractor safety standards. The person will be able to assess different safety management systems across many different contractors from a variety of disciplines, e.g. Civil Contractors and Timber Contractors. These roles will be part of the safety team within CPG, reporting to the Contractor Safety Performance Senior Team Lead. The successful candidates will be technically competent, conversant and up to date with policies and procedures, capable of completing audits and challenging unsafe behaviours. The role will require covering large geographic areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive best practice in safety within the contractor group through the development of strong relationships with Safety Managers and Specialists in the contractor portfolios.
  • Implement opportunities for improvement and utilisation across our business and ensure, through feedback and lessons learned, it develops as our business needs adapt and change.
  • Monitor internal policies and external legislation for changes to ensure CPG and contractor safety systems are adhering to changes and ensure our role as Client is fulfilled.
  • Support the CPG Safety Manager and the Contracting Safety Performance Senior Team in the development and implementation of behavioural safety initiatives.
  • Communicate effective performance of all team members and contractors and compliance with company procedures and processes.
  • Support the CPG Safety Manager and the Contracting Safety Performance Senior Team Lead in the ongoing development of the CPG safety strategy to ensure safety performance remains central to the business strategic development.
  • Carry out safety and quality audits as per the agreed audit schedule and provide feedback on performance.
  • Promote a positive safety culture.
  • Lead Safety Towards Zero Accidents.
  • Audit Safety Standards and Performance, including the OHSMS Internal Audit schedule.
  • Promote safety culture with contractors and others.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years relevant work experience is essential.
  • Experience and knowledge of Transmissions and Distribution Assets.
  • Knowledge of Safety Legislation.
  • Experience and knowledge of Electrical Safety Rules.
  • Understands and applies the relevant Quality Management Standards.
  • Assessment of Risk and application of appropriate controls.
  • Experience of ESB Network’s IT systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of ESB's Group policies in all dealings with staff, customers, contractors, general public etc.
  • Familiar with ESB Safety Systems & Processes, SHIELD, Auditing, OHSAS/ISO 45001 etc.
  • Familiarity with Business Systems.
  • Knowledge of Contract Management Procedures.

Qualifications

  • Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience (minimum of 5 years) is essential.
  • Full driving license.

Location

This position is a national role and therefore travel will be a feature of this role. The base location is flexible; however, this position will predominantly cover the northern half of the country.

Reporting to

The successful candidate will report to the Contractor Safety Performance Senior Team Lead, which sits within the Contractor Partner Group Safety Team.

Salary: €59,000 to €70,000 per annum
