We have a fantastic opportunity for a Social DSO Initiative Manager to join our Distribution System Operation team based in central Manchester.

Our Role

The Social DSO Initiative Manager will play a key role in supporting a just net zero transition for the communities and stakeholders we serve. The role will be responsible for leading the onward development, implementation and refinement of our recently co-created with stakeholders and customers Social DSO Strategy. This strategy has strong regional support and represents a new and unique way to shape distribution system operation activities for good.

In implementing and shaping this strategy delivery you will be ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, strategic objectives, and stakeholder expectations. You will benefit from existing programme management activities, established governance, financial oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to enable significant DSO enabled benefits for those otherwise at risk of being left behind. Distribution system operation covers key developing aspects of our activities including integration of low-carbon technologies, flexibility services, and smarter network operations capitalising on our digital and innovation leadership as well as partnerships leveraging our extensive stakeholder support.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Relevant experience within Public/Private Sector partnerships, Public or Social Policy Development, Energy or Utility environment
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Outstanding capability to shape and implement beneficial change across functional boundaries and organisations
  • Track record of building collaboration across organisations between third sector, local authorities and others
  • Strong understanding of the net zero transition and how this impacts different customer and stakeholder groups and how these may require particular support
  • Established profile and credibility in this or a relevant net zero transition space
  • Strong stakeholder management and commercial capability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Graduate in relevant area (e.g. Public or Social Policy, Business, Law, Politics, Geography etc)
  • Post graduate and/or professional qualifications desirable (e.g. Masters in Public or Social Policy or Business Administration)
