A Fantastic Opportunity: Telecommunications Planning Technician – 8 month fixed term contract
The role of Planning Technician is to support the delivery of infrastructure developments within the Cable and Fibre Planning Team. The role is to assist the Engineers with associated surveys, site visits and supporting documentation to maintain and evolve the current SP ENW Bearer Network and ensure that the Bearer Asset Management within the department is both current and fully documented. The successful applicant will be expected to work predominantly under the direction of the Bearer Planning Engineers and Delivery Engineers. Flexibility is paramount with this role as although there will be a predominance of office based work, some travel and site work will be necessary to satisfy the requirements.
What we’re looking for:
- Knowledge of DNO technology, particularly in the telecommunications environment;
- Good understanding of the Voltage Distribution Network at 132, 33 and 11/6.6KV and how it is deployed;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Toolbox applications and Electronic Drawing based Development Tools;
- BTEC Level 3 or equivalent in appropriate discipline;
- Understanding of Telecommunication Network Planning and Design principles, particularly the Pilot Cable network;
- Understanding of various databases within the Utility and Telecom environment including GEOFIELD / POWER GIS and Estimate;
- Project Engineering background;
- Understanding of basic Telecommunications Practice and Principles;
- Have or are willing to attain appropriate codes for identification and work on Pilots within SP ENW’s Distribution Network.
