As the Plant Policy Engineer, you will support the development and delivery of Electricity North West Limited’s engineering strategies associated with its use of equipment at all voltage levels, with responsibility for the following:

  • Support the Plant Policy Manager, and as required other policy managers within Engineering Strategy, with the development and management of company policies & standards relating to the design, installation (including civil requirements), operation & maintenance of all plant assets.

  • Support the Plant Policy Manager to ensure policies & standards are consistent with the company’s risk profile & business planning.

  • Supporting the Approval, Auditing and Witnessing Testing for new and retrofit equipment for use on the network including travel as required.

  • Perform technical investigations into equipment defects and mal-operations and completing Plant Modification development as required.

  • Work with Operations and the Academy to ensure compliance with approved policy.

  • Technical Electrical Qualifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Membership of the IET and actively working towards chartered member (or evidence of continuous professional development).

  • Minimum of five years experience in a combination of the following, Substation plant and equipment, planning, construction and maintenance of electricity distribution networks is essential.

  • Preferably hold an HV and LV operational authorisation.

  • A detailed understanding of electrical engineering of distribution networks.

  • A practical knowledge and experience of Electricity North West’s existing policies and practices across all activities including network design, construction activities at each of the voltages
