EMS is a leading supplier of temporary site services, supporting construction projects across London and the UK. We provide a range of essential site solutions and are committed to delivering outstanding service, reliability, and value to our clients. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced and proactive Buyer to join our team at our SE28 office.

The Role

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing materials, plant, equipment, and services required to support our operational teams and projects. You will work closely with suppliers, depot staff, project managers, and the commercial team to ensure products are procured efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing day-to-day purchasing activities across multiple projects.
  • Obtaining and evaluating supplier quotations.
  • Negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Raising and processing purchase orders.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and delivery times.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers.
  • Ensuring stock levels are maintained where required.
  • Resolving supply chain and procurement issues promptly.
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing records and reports.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role.
  • Construction, plant hire, temporary site services, or related industry experience preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Commercially aware with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within the electrical & mechanical sector.
